Keith Haring's work has meant a lot to me
for different reasons over the years.
His squiggles, spray painted linework, and the
ability to bring art out of the gallery and into the streets where
everyone could participate continues to make me smile.

The urgency of his message & art;
and his zest for living are great reminders that life is short. ...

In the words of David Bowie,
and as a tribute to Keith....

In April 1986, Haring opened the Pop Shop, a retail store in Soho selling T-shirts, toys, posters, buttons and magnets bearing his images. Haring considered the shop to be an extension of his work and painted the entire interior of the store in an abstract black on white mural, creating a striking and unique retail environment. The shop was intended to allow people greater access to his work, which was now readily available on products at a low cost. The shop received criticism from many in the art world, however Haring remained committed to his desire to make his artwork available to as wide an audience as possible, and received strong support for his project from friends, fans and mentors including Andy Warhol.

Born in 1961 in the Lebanon, into an Armenian family, Chahan Minassian arrived in France in 1976. After studying interior design in Paris, he joined the prestigious firm of Ralph Lauren where, for seven years, he was the creative director for Europe. In 1993, he created his own interior design agency, Chahan Interior Design, rapidly attracting commissions in the United States, Canada and Japan, as well as in Europe.

In 1999, Chahan Interior Design opened at 12 rue de Beaune in the 7th arrondissement of Paris, a discreetly elegant address at which Chahan receives his clientele. In his showroom here, a calm space that he often compares to a casket, his distinctive style can be viewed in an atmosphere of taste and timeless luxury. In 2008, an extension to the showroom was opened, Chahan Gallery at 11 rue de Lille in the 7th arrondissement of Paris.


Chahan shows here the work of notable American designers, his own furniture editions and a selection of fine decorative objects created by artists he promotes. In addition to this activity as a gallery director, he continues to travel the world attending to an ever growing portfolio of projects.

Piggly Wiggly, Memphis, Tennessee

I grew up in Memphis, and many years for school field trips,
I went to the Pink Palace Museum, and
there was a permanent exhibit of the first
Piggly Wiggly. Ten years old, and pure awe!

"It was founded on September 6, 1916, at 79 Jefferson Avenue in Memphis, Tennessee, by Clarence Saunders. A replica of the original store has been constructed in the Memphis Pink Palace Museum and Planetarium, a mansion that Saunders initially built as his private residence but was later sold to the city."

Piggly Wiggly was the first to:

• provide checkout stands.
• price mark every item in the store.
• feature a full line of nationally advertised brands.
• use refrigerated cases to keep produce fresher longer.
• put employees in uniforms for cleaner, more sanitary food handling.
• design and use patented fixtures and equipment throughout the store.
• franchise independent grocers to operate under the self-service method of food merchandising.

Darkroom, London

Darkroom is a new concept on Lamb’s Conduit Street, London WC1. We curate an eclectic mix of high-end fashion, interior and lifestyle accessories alongside bi-monthly art and sculpture exhibitions.

Darkroom explores several concepts – at the forefront is the crossover between fashion and interiors and with it the juxtaposition of materials, scale and form. Oversize plaited quilted scarves resemble eiderdowns whilst jewellery made from chunky rope evoke Sculptural furnishings. Alongside this, leather accessories take strong influences from saddlery, and oversize trims such as heavy fringing and chains feature strongly. Our interior accessories explore the diverse materials, textures and production techniques of clothing or jewellery. Boundaries between art and design are questioned by functional pieces that also hold sculptural qualities – a necklace may be worn traditionally or hung on the wall as an objet d’art. We will also be indulging our personal obsession with primitive art, textiles and jewellery and presenting them in new contexts.
