"His creations embraced modernism, yet the architecture of William A. Whifler (1925-1984) was of his own, personal, individual, inspired by the textures and light of Northern California, and by a boyhood fascination with a neighbor’s exotic house. Born in San Francisco, Whifler grew up on Drake Avenue in the Bay Area suburb of Burlingame, CA. Located at the end of a sparsely populated street, where the suburb gave way to diary pastures, the family home was a Craftsman Courtyard Bungalow surrounded by endless sprawling gardens.

For a young William Whifler it was an ordinary Peninsula neighborhood of the 1920’s and 30’s save for one unlikely structure, an authentic traditional Japanese teahouse directly across the street."

"Whifler’s works spanned the boom times after the war, from the 1950’s to the ‘70’s, a remarkable era of seemingly endless creative architectural possibilities that today is marked by the title, Mid-Century Modern.

His designs were mostly residential, crafted of wood, glass, concrete block and steel; and sublime in form as to bring to mind names like Rudolph Schindler, Richard Neutra, or Frank Lloyd Wright.

William Whifler’s life and architectural creations were grounded in the communities of San Francisco’s Mid-Peninsula. He married his Burlingame High School sweetheart Jean, attended The College of San Mateo, graduated in architecture at Stanford University, raised his family in Hillsborough, and went on to become Professor and Co-Founder of the Department of Architecture at the College of San Mateo."

Molly Luetkemeyer founded M. Design Interiors in 2001. From the outset, her mission has been to guide her clients to create personal, comfortable, chic homes that reflect their needs and particular tastes. Luetkemeyer's mantra is that no one should live in a showroom or someone else's house. If you are a family of four with young kids, you probably don't need the bar front and center (although she'll happily make sure it's tucked away for decompressing once parental duties are done!). Inspired by a range of sources from modern and contemporary art to nature, fashion and vintage design books, Luetkemeyer has developed an expressive, lively, fresh style all her own.

She takes a unique approach to each project, combining her personal inspiration with a thorough understanding of each client's needs. Her creative style has earned her a place on House Beautiful's list of Top 100 Designers in America four years running.

Born in 1961 in the Lebanon, into an Armenian family, Chahan Minassian arrived in France in 1976. After studying interior design in Paris, he joined the prestigious firm of Ralph Lauren where, for seven years, he was the creative director for Europe. In 1993, he created his own interior design agency, Chahan Interior Design, rapidly attracting commissions in the United States, Canada and Japan, as well as in Europe.

In 1999, Chahan Interior Design opened at 12 rue de Beaune in the 7th arrondissement of Paris, a discreetly elegant address at which Chahan receives his clientele. In his showroom here, a calm space that he often compares to a casket, his distinctive style can be viewed in an atmosphere of taste and timeless luxury. In 2008, an extension to the showroom was opened, Chahan Gallery at 11 rue de Lille in the 7th arrondissement of Paris.


Chahan shows here the work of notable American designers, his own furniture editions and a selection of fine decorative objects created by artists he promotes. In addition to this activity as a gallery director, he continues to travel the world attending to an ever growing portfolio of projects.
