Abstract Expressionist Dry Bar
Belgium
mid 1950s
This groovy dry bar was made in Belgium with the cooperation of a fairly well-regarded Belgian abstract artist. Unfortunately the gentleman's name (along with a biographical sketch about him, provided to me by the person I bought it from) is not available to me at the moment, but I am looking in earnest. Anyway, the painting on the front of the bar is an original, and is signed by the artist (in a hand which is not quite legible enough for me to rely on it for the purposes of research).

The bar is actually well-designed, with several useful compartments, topped by a mixing table with built-in plastic ice bucket. Accompanying the bar is a matching cabinet intended as additional storage for glasses and bottles. All in all, a very fun and stylish piece.
