Sarah Thornton, Seven Days in the Art World
Just picked this book up through Amazon, and I have to admit, I am kinda hooked. Sarah Thornton is a writer that is able to pull you into a world, without judgement, allowing you to look at the art world through a new set of eyes. Anyone interested in auctions, galleries, art fairs, and the inner workings of a bizarre world, I'd recommend this as a great winter holiday read.
The chapters on Takashi Murakami are interesting in the context of the current MOCA dilemma. Its amazing to reads about the amount of money trading hands in preparation for the MOCA show that happened last year, and the current state of MOCA being indebt. It makes me wonder why more artists have not bailed out MOCA.
