I've been psyched ever since I heard Mary was curating a show here in Los Angeles. Her blog Unchanging Window is a personal favorite, and I'm curious to see who / what & how she will pull it all together. I'm headed there this afternoon, since I won't be at the opening. Expect newly designed posters from Andy Beach, & some new ceramic works by Carl Williamson, plus more chummy works.

September 10 – 26, 2010,
Gallery Space at Space 15 Twenty

Chums, a multimedia group exhibition curated by Mary Manning. Defying the dehumanization of today’s electronic era, Manning and the artists’ relationships are in fact sustained by it: the six contributors – one of whom Manning has never met in person – are able to share their deep appreciation of found objects through her blog,
Unchanging Window.

Uniting real objects among online friends, Chums celebrates the convergence of internet and material culture. By Manning’s invitation, the selected artists created works for the show including paired posters by Andy Beach, ceramic vessels by Carl Williamson, a watercolor painting by Emmeline De Mooij, sculpture by Keegan McHargue, an installation by Rhiannon Silver, as well as an accompanying zine by Joe Gilmore.

Apart from her curatorial touch, Manning also contributes photographs as well as … plants. Says Manning, “They play so much importance in my real life, and I am happy to see them in these unexpected, or even unnoticed, spaces.”
